What Helps Protect Me from Spear Phishing?

Spear phishing is another type of phishing attack in which cyber criminals specifically target certain groups of people (i.e., the elderly, a specific company or organization, etc.) in an effort to gain personal or proprietary information. A spear phishing email will be much more detailed and harder to spot than a typical phishing email. It may look like it’s coming from a co-worker, boss, or family member who knows specific details about you or your company.

The best way to protect from spear phishing is to install proper security software and updates that catch spear phishing attempts and delete them before you or your employees ever see them.
